A SPLASH OF UNIQUE COLOURS
Hey Shanti did you see that new girl’s dress? It looks like a big cauliflower, don’t know what she was thinking when she decided to wear that today.
Oh my god! Yes, I did see her. Her hair is so thick that it looks like a forest.
I’m definitely not saying hi.
Take a moment and think of what you would do in this situation. Who's side would you take?
The poor new girl who will eventually be forced to straighten her hair and wear clothes she doesn’t want to? Or Shanti and her friend who judge everyone by their looks?
This is one of the most common problem that everyone faces.
We humans have a created a disease , which i like to call 'dividitis'. Its a disease where you tend to draw lines and boundaries between any space you find. Religion, caste, language, economic status and now even between what we think is 'ugly' and 'beautiful'. These divisions that we create are like ugly fences which must be destroyed immediately. Because on the other side of the fence is something unique and something special.
To destroy this fence you, must first realise that you are beautiful in your own way. You are special. To feel important it is crucial to believe in your uniqueness
Yes I dress different from you. And yes I have curly hair. But that's what makes me unique and different compared to the others. If I had straight silky hair and dressed like every other girl then would that be me? I lose my sense of self confidence which eventually leads to me changing my personality. being someone I don't want to be!
Is it fair that I go through all of this? Is it a crime that I try to embrace the real me,
BEAUTY IS ON THE INSIDE
Every time we look into the mirror the only things we see are our imperfections.
Oh! look at my stomach its bulging out.
Ah! That scar on my face is really dark.
Sigh! My shoulders are so broad.
But remember everything on your body is there for a reason. That stomach bulging out may be from the time when you were carrying your child.
The scar on your face might have formed when you were first learning how to ride a bicycle , but fell down.
Your broad shoulders might be the genes of your loving grandma .
When we see the positive side of things and the memories behind them we immediately realise their value.
We can never judge a person on how they look. As their face and body is something that they do not get to choose, but they do get to create their personality.according to me a beautiful person is kind, helpful, loving, and content. They need not have blue eyes, blonde hair, and a slim fit. He must only be good at heart!
Everyone in this world is like a splash of unique colours forming a painting of its own and not one of the paintings are similar , each differ from the biggest to the most minute differences. But in a way we are all still connected as we all experience that feeling of being a painting.
So the next time you see someone who according to you is dressed weird, don't stay there and judge them, instead go over and say hi, as you might be surprised how unique their painting(personality)is.
Every time you find that you are imperfect don't sweat it, as you are not alone. Everyone feels the same way.but never let those 'imperfections' change who you are or shake your self confidence. Instead embrace it like it's your identity and let it help you stand uptall!

Interesting thoughts! Its so relevant to our society where we face so much peer pressure.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteAwesome thoughts Dish! When everyone is just saying happy new year, you shared what is most needed to indeed make it a great year for ourselves and others through acceptance and appreciation!!
ReplyDeleteBeing non judgemental and inclusive is what is needed to make the society more humane. Profound message! Very empathetic of you Disha, in your writing.
ReplyDeleteShanti seems annoying
ReplyDeleteThe pressure exerted by society on the coming generation to follow the norms of society is truly disheartening... Parents are supposed to help their children be confident with themselves, where as parents are forcing their kids to be 'normal' due to the fear of their public image. Studies show that parental pressure is the root cause of suicide.
ReplyDeleteyes. As they say 'minority is in the house'
Deleteif everyone in this world goes mad and you were the only one stable, then according to everyone else you would be the mad one.
Well said Disha! Its very relevant to what most people are facing. Freedom of expression is what is taken away from most of us in the name of culture etc.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written and apt in today's world... Good going Disha, keep it up!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Disha .. Completely relevant to the current scenario !!
ReplyDeleteEmpathetic writing, Disha. Being humane restores hope and hoping to see more of this henceforth. Keep going ^•^
ReplyDeleteHi Disha, you have written an awe-inspiring article. You have raised a question in your own way, which adults face very often, "judging the people". You have also found an answer to this which is very much true to your understanding. We always judge people with the values we cherish. These values reflect our own feelings.what kind of feelings we come out of our imperfection life is what we are.life is not perfect and it will never be. you will understand it when you grow old. what we pick out of this imperfect world, beauty, affection, empathy, love etc.are the one which makes this life live worthy. They are called human values. The values which sustain life. Choice is ours.you are on right course Disha. Go on live your life but also keep writing, you have a good flair for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and giving such elaborate and valuable insights ☺️.
